Easter Week Devotion

Greetings Coaches,

This week we'd like you to address Jesus' resurrection not being an illusion.   There is not a card for this because we don't want the kids to get confused with Jesus' story and some kind of trick.  If I were doing it I would say something like this:

At Easter time we tend to get excited about decorating, hiding,  and finding eggs.  My favorite part though is celebrating that Jesus came back to life after being put to death.  When it happened some people thought it was a trick or an illusion like we have been talking about this season, but one guy who didn't believe back then got to actually put is finger in the places where they hung Jesus on the cross.  Jesus proved it wasn't a trick that he was back alive.   I know he is alive, because I have a personal relationship with him.  Just like I can talk to each one of you, I talk with him.  Just like I get to know you better each week, I get to know him better each week when we hang out.  If you don't have a friendship with Jesus like I do, I'd love to talk with you about how you can anytime the rest of the season, just say to me before or after practice, Hey coach, I wanna know Jesus like you do and we will talk about it.

Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:27-29

Coaches, it can be that simple to start.  Don't feel like you have to explain everything during your devotion time.  Give them your full story, and God's full story, when the kids ask.  It doesn't hurt to remind them that they can ask you at the end of practice or during future
practices as well.
